Criteria and Judging
This contest will be judged by a selection of people highly respected in the sport of bodybuilding, at any one time we will have 5 of the 6 judges below on the judging panel;
Robin Munro, a former Mr. Scotland and Mr. England winner, Robin has competed in the NABBA Universe and has one of the best physiques ever to come out of Scotland.
Jim Caldwell, a former competitor who broke his neck in a car crash but thanks to poor treatment decided to learn physiotherapy. Jim works on bodies daily from champion bodybuilders and soccer players to top ranked boxers.
Steve Avery, a legend from yesteryear in the British Bodybuilding scene, Steve was the most highly revered amateur bodybuilder in Britain for many years, Steve was the guy who made other competitors go home before stepping on stage. Steve also runs the UKBFF Gravesend Classic.
Derek Black, owner of Venice Physique Studio in Glasgow has been coaching many top west coast bodybuilders for many years, from Joe Buchanan, Hunni Glannville, Delroy Stewart and Lynne Carmichael to national and international victory.
Vikki McCann, President of the BNBF and INBF Ladies World Professional Champion. Vikki coaches many athletes and co-ordinates contests all over the UK.
Rob Hope, BNBF and INBF Professional World Champion and arguably the best natural physique in the world. We are blessed to have Rob here again today to help with our judging; Rob is one of the most humble, honest bodybuilders you will ever meet at his level.
The Mr. Caledonia contest will strive to do something NO other contest does, we will tell you what we are looking for before the event so you the competitor knows the direction you should be going in.
1. Balanced Muscular Size; you may have phenomenal arms or legs but if one overshadows the other this is not balance. You will be beaten by someone smaller if they display a high level of well-balanced muscularity.
2. Symmetry; an area which seems to confuse many, your body must balance up if viewed from the right or left, that is having awesome lats is a big plus but not if one inserts higher or lower than the other, or for example if you exhibit a pec tear this will effect your symmetry.
3. Presentation; if 2 athletes are neck and neck but one has a fantastic routine which has taken a lot of work and the other comes on and pulls a few mandatory poses then wanders off the person with the best routine will win.
4. Tanning; ANYONE found applying Dream Tan in or around the venue will be instantly disqualified, We don’t care if you’ve traveled from America, we are not prepared to be put in a position where we are being charged to re-decorate because competitors have been wiping their hands on walls, curtains and been brushing against the paintwork. If you don’t like this we are sorry but £1000 re-decorating bills will kill bodybuilding shows. We recommend Jan Tana or Pro Tan spray with posing gel to create a sheen.
5. We will be looking for an overall package, huge and soft will not beat smaller and shredded. You need to present a physique in good condition with a high level of balanced muscularity. Stomach bloating, body parts boosted visibly with site oil or implants will vastly reduce your chances of placing
